Seeking funds for his school's tuition, William Twining breaks into his bankrupt family's vaults and instead of finding cash discovers he has to choose the interim ruler of Hell. And Dantalion (who's the bearer of this dread message) insists he be the one who's selected. Dantalion eventually inserts himself into William's school life, along with fighting against an unholy host of other arch-fiends-to-be for the coveted position of devil-in-charge.
